AUSTRALIAN BUFFALO HUNTERS:  Welcome to outback Australia.  We specialise in quality traditional dangerous game safaris for rifle and bowhunters in scenic Arnhemland and the tropical Northern Territory.  Main species include Water Buffalo, Wild Ox (Scrub Bull) and occassional Wild Boar.  Real hunters will enjoy exploring and hunting our genuine wilderness concessions on foot with your classic express double or big game bolt rifle.
There are a few options for Buffalo and cheaper hunts can be found on cattle stations. However Australian Buffalo Hunters specialize in Arnhemland which offers genuine free range and wild game.  We offer Buffalo hunts for 5 or 7 days, and longer if required.  Look no further, we offer the finest quality Buffalo safaris available.

DANGEROUS GAME:  Water Buffalo bulls weigh 700- 900kg and even up to 1000kg (2200lb).  Water Buffalo can be just as tough and nasty as Cape Buffalo, and the terrain is often thick bush with close encounters.  Our hunters have been charged many times.  One Bull at 30m came charging out of the river, lunging and making huge waves, after 3 initial shots, it was then stopped at 11m by a 416 Rigby woodleigh solid to the brain.  Another time Nigel (PH) put 6 rounds in a charging bull (reloading twice) to finally stop it at his feet..!!
The extremely tough skin can be 25- 50mm (1- 2") thick around the neck area, and the frontal skull bone of a very old Bull can be 25-50mm (1- 2") thick.  Only an accurate brain or spine shot (that has penetrated) will consistently stop a charging wounded Buffalo.  Trophy sizes range from 90-110SCI with many 100-130cm (42-52") wide bulls taken in our concessions.  Come and experience Australia's best wilderness dangerous game hunting.

SAFARI RIFLES:  You can bring your own rifle or use one of ours.  We have 375H&H & 416 Rigby rifles available with quality optics.  Overseas hunters in the Northern Territory must obtain a Northern Territory Police International Visitors Firearm Licence, so we need to submit the application form as soon as possible.

BOWHUNTING:  Buffalo have excellent smell, eyesight, and hearing.  Bowhunters will appreciate our experience and the variation of terrain.  Medium to light colour camo works well in the Australian bush, and leafy suits are excellent.  Remember this is a thick skinned dangerous game animal equivelant to hunting Cape Buffalo or Hippo, so please only come with a heavy bow and heavy 750-1000grain arrows with strong 2 blade broadheads.  You will never forget being close up on large Buffalo bulls, the stalk, the excitement, and releasing your shot ..!!

BANTENG:  Banteng hunts are available in the wilderness of NW Arnhemland and Coburg Peninsular National Park.  You have a couple of options to hunt wild Banteng which are much smaller than Buffalo and a nice big game trophy.

ETHICAL HUNTING:  In this modern age, its often hard to find real wilderness hunting.  Imagine a traditional old African hunting safari...  where you will earn your trophies the hard way, hunting on foot and tracking wild game.  We do not hunt in wet coastal swamps.  We do not hunt from vehicles, or use ATVs or helicopters.  We are dedicated to real fair chase hunting safaris in the best dangerous game areas of Australia.  After a long day, and exciting stalk, when you sit next to your hard earned trophy you will be very proud of your achievements.

CLASSIC TENTED SAFARI CAMPS:  Arnhemland's best old style Tented Safari camps & hunting.  Like a traditional African safari, our expedition tented safari camps are occassionally moved during the dry season, so you are always amongst large numbers of Buffalo.  We dont have a permanent base camp, as you are in the wild, and our camps are removed before the tropical wet season.  The main camps are very comfortable, with large tents, hot showers, flushing toilets, and laundry service, plus quality meals and drinks.  Small remote camps are used further afield.  All camps have a lovely location, on a picturesque river or stream, often with herds of Buffalo roaming past!!
Many species of Australian birdlife come in for water near camp, and kookaburras, kingfishers, kites and hawks cruise along the river.  Bring your wife and family, for this is the perfect place to relax and explore.  In the evenings, hunters talk of the outback, hunting, rifles or bows around the Aussie campfire and under the stars.

HUNT SEASON & HUNT FLIGHTS:  The best months for Buffalo hunting are June, July, August, September with daytime temperatures averageing 20-23'C min to 27-34'C max (perfect).  This is the DRY Season when hunting is at its best and 4wd access is possible into the concessions.  By mid October and start of November temperatures are up to 34-42'C max (midday), and the tropical WET Season rains start from November through to March.  Arnhemland hunts require approx 1 1/2hr charter flights between Darwin and the Hunt Areas.

BARRAMUNDI FISHING:  After your hunting in the Northern Territory you can fish the rivers and billabongs for Barramundi and Saratoga, which are 2 of our renowned fighting fish.  Keen fishermen travel from all over the world to experience Barramundi fishing in the Top End.  Exciting river and ocean Fishing charters are available from Darwin.

DARWIN, NORTHERN TERRITORY:  You will need to fly to the city of Darwin which is a great holiday and tourist area, with quality shops, beaches and the famous Mindil Beach markets.  Bring the family along and take extra time for a visit to Kakadu and Litchfield National Parks, view stunning gorges, billabongs, waterfalls, and see native wildlife such as Kangaroos, Wallaby, Dingo, Goanas, Frilled necked lizards, Crocodiles, and birdlife such as Hawks, Kites, Brolga and Jabiru. 

DEER HUNTS:  International hunters doing Buffalo with us can upgrade their itinerary to include first class Deer hunting.  We have premium free range Deer hunts for excellent trophy Chital (Axis), Red Deer, Javan Rusa Deer, Moluccan Rusa Deer in Queensland and the elusive Sambar Deer in Victoria where a high level of fitness and effort is required.  Note: These hunts are in the best areas, and require travel to one or two other Australian states.  Requires 3- 4- 6-days per species, with hunts priced from $4200.  Game ranch deer hunts can be aranged upon request.
